Our Vision

Methodology for Global Aviation Fuel Price Index

The Global Aviation Fuel Price Index is constructed by the organization utilizing its proprietary daily assessments of aviation fuel spot prices across key regional markets. In instances where no assessment is made on a specific day, such as during market holidays, the most recent prior working day’s spot assessment is applied.

Each assessment conducted by the organization is assigned a weight within the regional categories, primarily determined by uplift data and trading activity. Similarly, each regional index is weighted within the Global Composite Index, as indicated in the "Contribution to Composite Index" column.

These weighted values are then benchmarked against average spot prices from a designated base year, with adjustments made based on uplift data from that timeframe. For instance, an index value of 250 signifies a 150% increase in prices since the base year.

It is important to note that all components of the Global Aviation Fuel Price Index methodology and data, including the foundational elements, are proprietary intellectual property of the organization.
